European beer of the month club comes through again. Except, the only website I can find this on is selling it for 8$ a bottle! 2.80 euros locally online.
Goddamnit. One of, if not THE best i’ve ever had. I just can’t get it.

Counterpoint: The US today is the best and most diverse* beer culture in the history of the world. It’s one of the few things I feel like we really have nailed b eyond reproach.
(I had to add “ diverse” because Belgian monasteries might be like “Come at me bro!” You know how monks are.)

Don’t forget the drams of filtered tap water used to make Session IPA ’s.
I’ll second you by adding diversity of naming and marketing schemes. There is no place for original brewers who spend their time and money on beer instead of what it takes to secure distribution and sales.

Absolutely. Here in Washington there are breweries making everything imaginable. Some specialize in old world styles, others in sours, one even has nothing but old world lagers. The US is definitely at the center of the beer world right now, just as it has become with Marijuana horticulture.
I was lucky enough to attend a beer festival in Croatia last year while on vacation. Every brewer I talked to there looks to the US for inspiration.

They don’t get the best stuff, they make it. Or, they get it because it’s made locally to them.
If you haven’t been to Belgium, you should ;) We have some Belgian beers locally in Melbourne, but going there is something else entirely. The l ambic oh my god

Agreed...and speaking of WA, the fact that I can find Elysian at every one of my grocery stores here in AL is testament to how good distribution has gotten amid the craft beer renaissance.
Croatia is awesome, I’d love to go back one day. My grandmother and about 10 generations before her were from an island near Dubrovnik.
Might be a nice place to escape a global pandemic...

You’re totally right, who knows when we’ll be able to indulge again.
But when the time comes, Belgium :)
